Calbuco

Calbuco is a historic island city in the Los Lagos Region, located in the archipelago of the same name, within the Reloncaví sound. Its past as one of the first Spanish settlements in southern Chile is reflected in its traditional wooden churches, part of the same Chilote religious heritage recognized by UNESCO, and in the layout of its historic quarter.

Calbuco's economy revolves around the sea: artisanal fishing, shellfish harvesting, and intense salmon farming coexist with a landscape of colorful houses, coves, and views of Calbuco Volcano and Chiloé's main island. Its island status, connected to the mainland by a bridge, gives it a unique identity within Llanquihue province.
